Incoloy 825 UNS N08825
Inconel 825 (UNS N08825) is a titanium-stabilized nickel-iron-chromium alloy with molybdenum and copper added. It is specially designed to resist strong acids, local corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, and performs exceptionally well especially in reducing acid environments such as sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. The core characteristics and advantages of alloy 825 tube:
1. Corrosion resistance, resistant to reducing acids such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, dilute hydrochloric acid (concentration ≤15%), and acetic acid.
2. Local corrosion: High molybdenum + chromium resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
3. Stress corrosion cracking, resistance to chloride and caustic alkali SCC is superior to that of austenitic stainless steel.
4. High-temperature performance: The upper limit of oxidation resistance is 540°C, and it can withstand carburizing up to approximately 650°C.
5. Processability: The hot working temperature range is 900-1180°C, and cold working requires annealing (to prevent intergranular corrosion).
6. Weldability, no risk of sensitization after welding.
Alloy 825 tubes comply with the standard ASTM B163/B423. Alloy 825 tubes are the ultimate guardians of complex acidic environments, especially sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid containing chlorine/fluoride ions. Their molybdenum-copper-titanium collaborative design makes them irreplaceable in chemical engineering, environmental protection and Marine engineering. Although its high-temperature performance is weaker than that of 601, it fills the key gap between stainless steel and high-end nickel-based alloys in scenarios where acid corrosion and stress corrosion coexist.

Corrosion Resistance
Alloy 825 is a solution-strengthened iron-nickel-based alloy. It is a fully austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy stabilized with titanium and contains additions of copper and molybdenum. 825 is a versatile engineering alloy exhibiting resistance to corrosion by acids and alkali metals in both oxidizing and reducing environments. Its high nickel content provides effective resistance to stress corrosion cracking. It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in diverse media, including sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, organic acids, and alkali metals such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and hydrochloric acid solutions. The alloy's superior comprehensive performance is particularly evident in corrosive environments with multiple reactants, such as those found in combustion dissolvers processing sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and sodium hydroxide within a single vessel.
Application Fields
Incoloy 825 is widely used in various industrial applications where operating temperatures do not exceed 550°C.
1. Heating tubes, vessels, baskets, and chains in sulfuric acid pickling plants.
2. Seawater-cooled heat exchangers, marine product piping systems, and piping in acidic gas environments.
3. Heat exchangers, evaporators, scrubbers, and immersion tubes in phosphoric acid production.
4. Air heat exchangers in petroleum refining.
5. Food processing and chemical engineering.
6. Flame-retardant alloys for pressurized oxygen applications.
